D@rts is a catalyst project aimed at increasing social cohesion and inclusion using the performing arts (particularly music, theatre, and dance) to develop participants’ cultural literacy.
The project envisions new horizons for social cohesion through education in the performing arts, benefiting people of all ages and social backgrounds, with a special focus on the educational system and on community artistic initiatives.
The creation of participatory spaces that facilitate dialogue will enable participants to improve their situations within the communities in which they live.
Using a global perspective, d@rts will promote a more inclusive future for Europe.
The D@rts project aims to achieve the following objectives:
- Understand how cultural literacy can be promoted through the performing arts.
- Assess the impact of cultural literacy on the development of social cohesion.
- Develop valid assessment tools to measure cultural literacy.
- Understand how the performing arts are currently being employed to promote cultural literacy through an analysis of the official documents of partner countries.
- Build dialogues and co-create actions with heterogeneous groups within the project’s target audience.
- Use the results of the aforementioned analyses to provide recommendations for policymakers concerning cultural and educational policies that foster long-term cohesion and social inclusion.
The expected outcomes are:
- Increased cultural literacy within communities through activities, and initiatives that actively engage participants in a participatory approach.
- Dissemination of research findings to citizens to improve the development of social cohesion.
- Political and practical recommendations to increase social cohesion through cultural literacy initiatives inspired by the performing arts.
The target groups include people of all ages, with particular attention to vulnerable groups and minorities.
The project will empower groups to be artistically active, engaging in dialogue with one another while providing the necessary tools and encouragement to create a cohesive European society.
Participation and dialogue facilitate the inclusion of all citizens.
Therefore, the d@rts project promotes cultural literacy and strengthens social cohesion and resilience, aiming to build an inclusive future for Europe.
